Take 1 capsule 1–2 times daily; for higher needs, up to 1 capsule 3 times daily. If taken in excess, magnesium citrate may have a mild laxative effect, then reduce the dose. What is Magnesium?
Magnesium is a chemical element (abbreviated Mg) and essential for the human body. Magnesium is involved in over 300 enzymatic processes. It has antioxidant properties and can help reduce oxidative stress that can occur during cell division. Magnesium is found in foods such as nuts, seeds, green leafy vegetables, and whole grains.
What is Magnesium Citrate / Trimagnesium Dicitrate?
Magnesium citrate is a magnesium salt of citric acid (citrate). It is considered one of the best magnesium compounds and is often preferred because it is well soluble and easily absorbed by the body. Its rapid absorption and good solubility help effectively regulate electrolyte balance, especially for athletes or people who sweat or lose fluids. Magnesium citrate comes in different variants. The trimagnesium dicitrate variant provides more magnesium per gram of substance than simple magnesium citrate, making it more efficient. The combination of three magnesium ions and two citrate molecules ensures good solubility, making it gentler on sensitive stomachs.
What does USP quality mean?
“USP quality” means that the raw material used meets the quality standards of the United States Pharmacopeia (USP). These standards define how purity, content, identity, and other properties of a substance are tested. This ensures consistently high quality of the ingredient used.

What does Magnesium Citrate taste like?
Magnesium citrate products differ in taste. The lower the magnesium content – many products contain only about 8% – the more sour (lemony) it tastes. Sometimes flavor enhancers are added, but this is not necessary. The higher the magnesium content and the purer the product, the more “neutral, powdery” it tastes. In taste-neutral capsules, magnesium citrate is easy to take. Higher magnesium content also makes the product more efficient.
How is Magnesium powder best taken?
Magnesium citrate is easiest dissolved in water, stirred well, and consumed immediately. It can also be mixed into freshly squeezed orange juice or smoothies. Vitamin C in orange juice can even enhance magnesium absorption, as it improves mineral uptake. It is recommended to divide the daily intake into two or three portions (see our recommended use) because the body can better utilize the magnesium, as the intestines can only absorb a limited amount at a time.
How important is good magnesium supply?
Active people, athletes, pregnant and breastfeeding women, and older adults have higher magnesium needs. Supplements should not replace a balanced diet and healthy lifestyle.
Can Magnesium Citrate be overdosed?
Just as magnesium deficiency is possible, overdose is also possible. Excess magnesium may cause diarrhea and gastrointestinal discomfort. Very high doses can lead to low blood pressure with symptoms. People with kidney problems are especially at risk because the kidney cannot excrete excess magnesium efficiently. Consult a doctor if in doubt.
Many magnesium products on the market are overdosed. Our dosage recommendations follow official guidelines. The EU NRV (Nutrient Reference Value) for magnesium is 375 mg/day, including intake from food and supplements. EFSA and DGE reference values: women ≥25 years 300 mg/day, men 350 mg/day.
