Common disease iodine deficiency and Ascophyllum nodosum (knotted seaweed)
The brown seaweed "Ascophyllum nodosum" used here comes from sustainably managed North Atlantic algae regions. It is dried and gently crushed into particles. As brown algae can be contaminated by marine pollution, we only use tested, certified organic brown algae (Ascophyllum nodosum) for the production of our algae capsules. The capsule shell is also of vegan origin.
Health problems caused by iodine deficiency - why we need iodine
Iodine is essential for health and can therefore cause a wide range of health problems. These include, for example, the formation of nodules in the thyroid gland such as goitre, thyroid dysfunction, a raspy, hoarse voice, a reduction in physical drive, fatigue, insomnia, poor concentration, depressive moods and depression, and a reduction in the ability to concentrate; depression and depression, reduced physical performance, digestive disorders, fertility problems, hair loss, dull hair and increased susceptibility to infections (source: "Energy boost from the sea" by Dr. Karl J. Natural and well-dosed iodine supply with telomit® organic algae capsules
Brown seaweed naturally contains iodine. The exact amount can also be found on the product label.
Not everyone likes the characteristic taste of algae, which is why the gently dried and crushed algae can also be taken in capsule form. In particular, the encapsulation makes it easier to dose the iodine. Germany, like many other countries, is still an iodine deficiency area. However, iodine is a vital element. telomit® organic algae capsules have a naturally high iodine content. Iodine contributes to*
- to normal cognitive function
- to a normal energy metabolism
- to a normal function of the nervous system
- to maintain normal skin
- to a normal production of thyroid hormones
- to a normal thyroid function
More about Ascophyllum nodosum
Knotted kelp, a seaweed, is a brown algae that is mainly found in the North Atlantic up to the Arctic regions, but also in the North Sea, the Baltic Sea and in subtropical areas. It is used to obtain alginic acid (algin), which is used in many different ways. In the algae themselves, algin is the structural element of the cell walls. In the food industry, algin is obtained from seaweed during the extraction of iodine from seaweed. The salts of alginic acid are called alginates. They are used in foodstuffs, e.g. as thickening and gelling agents. Alginates are also extracted for use in the cosmetics and pharmaceutical industries.
